hrh-frigga-of-asgard:

“Adoption is a big step, you should have talked to me about this, how can you just expect to waltz in with the baby of one of our greatest enemies and expect me to raise it with no problems whatsoever?”
Those were the first words I said when Odin presented me with Loki, though the anger didn’t last long.  Odin explained what had happened and how he had found the baby and then begged me to just hold him, that I would love the child as he did as soon as I did.  Initially I refused and I was going to walk away, but the tiny bundle in Odin’s arms sneezed and then began to whimper.
Without thinking, I took the child from Odin and wrapped him up tighter, the poor thing was freezing and he was going to become ill if he was taken care of soon.  She didn’t blame Odin for that, he knew next to nothing about newborns and was still functioning after losing an eye, she thought it was a miracle that he had made it this far.
“Go to the healing room,” she told him, “I’ll care for him and we’ll take him to the Healers in the morning.” Odin left and she sat and rocked her new son, completely in love with him, “Welcome to the family, little one, I love you very much.” She pressed her lips to his forehead and continued to rock him until her fell asleep.
